You never know...
My great-grandmother passed away earlier in the week and today I got the news that a family friend died unexpectedly. While talking to my cousin, Jenny, she reminded me that you just never know the impact your words and actions can have on someone. She reminded me to never underestimate kind words or going the extra mile. Because, sometimes, when times are tough you'll find out that your words and actions have helped someone else get through. And sometimes you'll need to rely on the kind words and deeds of another person to help you along. In the wake of a school shooting in Omaha and the shooting in Arizona which has captured national attention, it is important to remember that you just never know. You never know when you might see a person for the last time or what your final words may be to someone. It's easy to get bogged down by those somewhat morbid thoughts, however. It's far better to simply be thankful for the gift of a new day, for the people who make our lives better, for the chance to say "I love you" one more time.
